New website for a chain of fitness studios

Introduction

The client was an established Pilates chain with over 10 locations. Their goals were to improve lead generation and streamline the user experience. 

Their previous website was built on WordPress but had lots of legacy code and functionality that needed to be retained. One of the biggest challenges was migrating this data and code without compromising performance of the new website.

Project Scope

The scope of the project was to deliver a modern, high performing website that made it extremely easy for new users to book onto a class. Also, current members needed access to their library of on demand video classes and live streams.

The client also wanted an interactive map of their locations so that users could find the closest studio and book in minimal clicks.

The website needed to integrate with their current booking system via API, essentially creating a bespoke user experience that could be customised when required.

Finally, it was highly important to the client that they could easily edit the website and construct landing pages when they required them.

Development and Technology

We used WordPress for this build, as it’s our CMS of choice. However, WordPress was in fact the perfect option for this particular website build anyway.

This website was built as a Hybrid WordPress theme, meaning it uses some features of Full Site Editing but not all.

It was built using native core blocks and also custom ACF blocks. Building the majority of pages in the Block Editor allowed us to create block patterns that the client could reuse to create landing pages effortlessly. It also meant that for any complex functionality we could utilise ACF to create custom blocks that were not available in core or other block libraries.

We used a variety of plugins that enhanced performance, increased security and provided additional functionality that we needed. Of course, we always try to keep plugins at a minimum to ensure optimal site speed.

Results and Outcomes

The new website had a clear impact on the client’s business by increasing traffic, leads and conversions, within the first 3 months of launch.

We took them from 150 new user bookings per month to 300 new user bookings per month. Essentially doubling what their old website was bringing in.

These impressive results were down to multiple factors of the new website, but the main improvements were the bespoke booking system, modernised design, improved user journey and optimised site speed.

We continue to work very closely with this client, maintaining their website and adding new functionality as requested. They also have a support plan so that we are on hand whenever they need assistance.
